The project shall have benefitted and enhanced capabilities of cocoa researchers, state management officials and cocoa farmers with an ultimate goal of sustainable expansion of high quality cocoa production in Vietnam and improving its international market access.
Objectives
- Capacities for both extension support services and cocoa farmers are improved;
- Current average yield of Vietnam cocoa is increased and reach 2kg/tree/year within the trained farmers by 2016;
- Cocoa has become a major commodity that gets increased investments by different major actors;
- The government is advised to develop favourable policies and allocate funds for cocoa development.

Main Achievement since the Project Started
- Set up and run of 3 CDCs, 29 CVCs and 14 demonstration of high yielding farms with 2 tons of dried seed per ha to provide technical advise, planting materials and support to cocoa farmers in Central Highland, Mekong delta;
- Develope monthly bulletin and provide trainings on cocoa planting and fermentation for about 2.000 cocoa farmers;
- Provide technical support to private actors to develop large scale- farming model and attract more investors to cocoa production;
- Coorperate with Crop Production Department and National Extension Center to develop, publish and provide trainings on sustainable cocoa production;
- Coorperate with Cocoa Coordination Board to develop and implement the Cocoa Development Strategy.
