Cynthia Hartley is the International Market Lead for Disaster Risk Management with AECOM in Washington, DC where she focuses on the integration of civil and environmental engineering, disaster preparedness and recovery, and community engagement. She augments more than 15 years as an international business development specialist with an extensive background in organizational development and leadership of nonprofit organizations. She served as the chairperson of WPFW’s Community Advisory Board from 2012 to 2014 and the vice-chair of the Trinidad Neighborhood Association. Prior to that, Cynthia was the president of the Capitol Hill Energy Cooperative focusing on renewable energy and urban sustainability for neighborhood residents. She was an active member of Water for People, an international non-profit organization working to provide clean water and sanitation to rural communities in Latin America, Africa, and Asia since 2003, first serving as the chair of the New Jersey and later Washington, DC committees. In 2006 she was nominated to the board of Water for People where she supported efforts through technical scoping studies, organizational development, and fundraising. 

Cynthia earned a dual M. Sc. in Economics and International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a dual B.A. in Economics and International Affairs from Agnes Scott College.
